What is Body Intelligence?

Body Intelligence is all about how you acquire, adapt, and apply your defense based on the randomness and unpredictability of any self-defense dynamic, context, or situation. Body Intelligence is our modus operandi and is based on Systema, Russian Martial Art, the foundation of our training.

What Makes Systema Training Different?

There are four fundamental principles of Systema: breathing, relaxation, posture, and movement (biomechanics). As a result of conditioning, you will not only increase your strength, flexibility, and endurance, you will develop a better understanding of your body and apply it to all aspects of your life, including self-defense.

Systema training does not solely focus on strategies and tactics for combat alone; instead, it is also deeply connected to healing and recovery. The Russian training style is very versatile and allows individuals of any age, body type, and gender to train successfully to achieve their physical goals. Training benefits everyone from the serious martial artist to the people who want to explore their potential range of body movement further or increase their health and physical fitness.

Whether you are an athlete fine-tuning your body or recovering from an injury, Systema exercises will help. Ultimately, whatever your goals are, you will improve the quality of your life. Click the link below if you are ready to get started.

What is the History of Systema?

The Russian style of martial art dates back to the 10th century.

Russia had to repel invaders from the north, south, east, and west throughout history. All attackers brought their distinct styles of combat and weaponry. Often vastly outnumbered by the enemy forces, the Russians battled on different terrain during freezing winters and sweltering summer heat.

Consequently, Russian warriors acquired a self-defense style that combined having a strong spirit with highly innovative and versatile tactics that were at the same time practical, deadly, and effective against any type of enemy under any circumstances.

The style was natural and free while having no strict rules, rigid structure, or limitations (except for moral ones). Russian warriors based their tactics on instinctive reactions, individual strengths, and specific characteristics for fast learning.

When the Communists came to power in 1917, they suppressed all national traditions, including the old fighting style. The authorities severely punished people if they practiced. Nevertheless, the leaders quickly realized how viable and devastating the original combat system was and reserved it just for a few Special Operation Units like Spetsnaz, GRU, and other government facilities known for high-risk missions.

In our training and instruction, you will learn this fascinating style and see why Russian Systema is said to open a new page in the world of martial arts.

What Am I Going to Learn?

Systema combines three components to create a TRUE WARRIOR - Combat Skill, Strong Spirit, and a Healthy Body. Here you will learn to be free of tension, filled with endurance, flexibility, effortless movement, and explosive potential. You will also develop a spirit or psychological state that is calm, free of anger, irritation, fear, self-pity, delusion, ego, and pride.

Combat Skill

The combat skill includes powerful and precise movements, instant and economical, spontaneous, subtle and diverse, the signature of a true professional.

Strong Spirit

Training a strong spirit includes exploring a complete set of concepts and components that enhance one’s life. In this case, acquiring martial art skill is a way to improve the function of all seven physiological systems of the body and all three levels of human abilities the physical, the psychological, and the spiritual.

Healthy Body

The fundamental principle of the Russian Systema is non-destruction. The goal is to make sure that your training and attitudes do no damage to the body or the psyche of you or your partners. Systema creates, builds, and strengthens your body, mind, family, and country.

In conclusion, you will learn how to effectively divert, disarm, and disengage from various self-defense situations. You will understand the importance of time and awareness in emergencies to develop the necessary survival skills. This mindset taught in Systema will help condition practitioners to respond with no hesitations to attacks to maximize their chances of prevailing unexpected assaults and reaching safety.

What is the Philosophy of Systema?

Systema has another name, “poznai sebia” or “Know Yourself.” Systema will help you understand yourself beyond the superficial of knowing your strengths, weaknesses, and limitations. Systema allows you to gain the true power of the spirit that comes from humility and clarity in seeing your life's purpose.

As the roots of the Russian Systema are in the Russian Orthodox Christian faith, the belief is that everything that happens to us, good or bad, has only one ultimate purpose. That is to create the best possible conditions for each person to understand himself. Proper training in the Russian Systema carries the same objective – to put every participant into the best possible setting for him to realize as much about himself as he can handle at any given moment.

Mikhail Ryabko’s words to beginners are, “Be a good person and everything else will come to you.” Systema helps you choose and follow the right path, comprehensive yet straightforward.
